If you want to include native plants in your current project—great choice! Here’s how to find and add them using the filters in PlantMaster.

Updated over a week ago

Ready to add some natives - let's get started!

Make Sure You Have a Project Selected

Before you start, make sure that you’ve created a project.
If you haven’t, create one first so your selected plants have a place to go.

Now you can head to the Plant Search section.
Double check that your current project is selected.

Open the Native Filters

In the filters panel on the left toolbar, look for the section labeled Zones/Natives—it’s the second option down.

Select a Native Region

Within the Zones/Natives filters, choose N. American Native to see all native regions available in PlantMaster.

Then, select the native region you want to use for your project.

Once you make your selection, all plants native to that region will automatically display.

For this example, we chose Midwest. And here are all the Midwest natives.

Narrow Your Results

You can refine your list even further by applying additional filters—such as water and sun requirements, or plant type, etc. to find the best natives for your design.

Pro Tip: Want to get even more precise? Try adding your USDA Zone or Sunset Zone to the filters in addition to your native region. You’ll see the natives that truly thrive in your exact climate—not just those native to the broader region.

Add Natives to Your Project

From here, you can add native plants one at a time (by clicking the + symbol in the top right corner) or use the Add All Results button to add the entire list of displayed natives to your project at once.

Now you know how to add natives to your projects!

What to Do If a Plant’s Native Data Looks Incorrect

If you notice a plant with missing or incorrect native data, please let us know so we can correct it for everyone.

If a plant is borderline—or you simply want to include it as a native—you can update it yourself.

Every ePlant is fully editable, so feel free to open the plant record and adjust the native information to keep your data accurate.
