Ready to start highlighting your natives? Great!
First, you'll need to set your native region you’re working in, and as you add plants, PlantMaster automatically checks each one’s origin and flags the Natives for you.
There Are Two Places to Set Your Native Region:
In your account settings or
In your project settings.
We’ll walk through both options and share some recommendations on when to use each.
Before You Begin:
Here are a few key things to know about native regions:
Account settings apply everywhere. If you set a native region at the account level, every project (new or old) will use that region by default.
Project settings override account settings. If you change the native region inside a specific project, that project will use its own setting—even if your account has a different default.
Chose Where to Set Your Native Region:
If you work exclusively in one area: Set it at the account level.
(Set it and forget it.)If you work in many regions: Skip the account setting and set the native region in the project settings.
If you share an account with others: Unless everyone designs in the same region, set it per project and skip the account setting.
Pro Tip: You can always go back and update the native region for any project at any time.
How to Set Your Native Region in Account Settings:
First, go to My Account located under your name in the top right corner of your screen.
On the account page, select the second tab, App Settings.
The very first section you’ll see is Natives. This is where you'll set your region.
Select your native region from the dropdown.
Add a custom name (Optional).
For example, instead of just “Kansas,” use “Kansas Natives” if you want the word “Natives” in the label.
Click Save. (The button will gray out once your choice is saved)
That's it! Now EVERY project will use this region automatically—unless you override it at the project level.
How to Set Your Native Region in Project Settings:
Open or create a new project.
Inside your project, click Settings (top item in the vertical navigation bar).
On the Settings tab, find the section titled Natives.
Your current Native settings will be visible. Click the Edit button to change this setting. This will pull up a modal where you can edit your natives for this project.
Select your native region from the dropdown.
Add a custom name (Optional). For example: “Pacific Northwest Natives.”
Click Save.
You're done! Your project will now display the new native region, overriding any account-level setting. This setting only applies to this project.
